The Best Local Grub
Sierra Rizing Bakery
7310 Hwy. 49, Lotus. (530) 642-1308
Quite possibly the best bakery anywhere! They have an amazing selection of baked goods and freshly brewed/locally roasted coffee on hand. You can start off with a cup of Organic Sumatra & a White Crumb Berry Muffin, maybe even some Bread Pudding as well. After enjoying the cozy surroundings, you can go home with some of their Flourless Flawless Fudge Cake...don't forget to share!

Historic Sierra Nevada House
Coloma, (530) 626-8096
Their exceptional chefs have created a menu to satisfy a wide variety of palates and appetites. Hearty steaks, thick handmade burgers or enjoy one of their signature dishes such as the rack of lamb or the grilled pork chops. Coupled with a fine bottle of wine from one of the many local vineyards, this relaxing and comfortable restaurant will definitely satisfy your tastes and cravings. Don't forget to visit Buford's, a full service bar on site in full Gold Rush era decor!

Happy Palace Chinese Restaurant
Cool (7 miles from camp), (530) 823-1688
Without question, the BEST Chinese Food in the area! They got new owners in 2008 and a whole new fresh taste! Even though they still make that "Americanized-Chinese" food, they also make truly authentic Hong Kong style dishes and probably the best Pad-Thai we've ever had! Yes, we know, Pad-Thai is, well, Thai...but their version is DEE-LISH! The new owners are super nice...food is even better...hmm...think that I'll go there right now!

Cafe Mahjaic
1006 Lotus Rd. Lotus, CA.95651 (530) 622-9587
"New American Cuisine"? Say what? What we do know is, that this is by far, one of the best restaurants we've ever, ever eaten at. The menu is very creative and the flavors are always very wonderfully fused. We love having "Bay Area" cuisine here in the foothills finally, and if you try this place, you will too. Oh, by the way, you can also stay in one of their very cute guest rooms and they all have private bathrooms too.

Thai Style Fine Dining
3300 Coach Lane, Cameron Park. (530) 677-5220
In our opinion, having travelled far and wide...definitely one of the best Thai restaurants anywhere. Be sure to try the Angel Wings and one of their amazing Curry dishes. The Coconut sorbet is the best way to finish off your meal.

Shilla Sushi & Teriyaki Restaurant
2942 Paul Bunyon Road, Placerville. (530) 644-5047
You will come in to a wonderfully warm greeting by the owners themselves and be treated to great Japanese/Korean food and a fantastic Sushi Bar. The Bento Box dinner is the best way to try a little variety of their chef's talents.

V.I.P. Restaurant
4079 Cameron Park Dr, Cameron Park. (530) 672-9988
Let's see, where do we begin. How about having a Sushi bar, Mongolian BBQ, 20+ different excellent Chinese dishes, Salad bar and even some Japanese food as well. Soups, Ice Cream...on and on and on it goes. Oh wait, did we mention that all of it is Buffet-style All-you-can-possibly-stand-quantities for around $12.00/person??? Be forewarned that you WILL leave with the distinct impression that you ate waaaay too much...and that you will be coming back again soon!

Casa Ramos
9840 Greenleaf Dr., Placerville. (530) 622-2303
This is definitely one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area and is right next door to the Placerville Best Western. We recommend the Pollo A La Crema and be careful not to eat too much of their tasty Chips/Salsa, their servings are HUGE!
